After talks with the Ville de Lyon, we, the organisers of Run In Lyon, have taken the decision to wait until 2021 to organise the next edition of the event. We wish to be able to guarantee the passion, emotion and warmth that has characterised the event since its inception. We really hope to see you next year.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Run In Lyon, runners turned up in numbers, with more than 30,000 signing up for the event.
10th ANNIVERSARY OF RUN IN LYON
The 10th anniversary of the largest Run In was a not-to-be missed event and the population of Lyon certainly showed its full support. Whether for the 10km, the half-marathon, the marathon or the marathon relay, runners of all levels turned out with one and the same goal: to achieve the best possible performance over their distance. It must be said that the festivities started well on the Saturday, with the highly popular Pitch Marathoons (1.2km and 2.4km) which drew in 1,200 children aged 5 to 10.
For 10 years now, Run In Lyon has been a popular success story attracting all types of runner profiles. The 10km remains the preferred format for women, who accounted for 46% of the leading pack, while nonetheless being extensively represented in the half-marathon (one third of the participants). It should be noted that almost one quarter of the runners had decided to take up the challenge at the invitation of their companies, notably in the 10km race, where they accounted for 30% of those registered.
QUAI ROMAIN ROLLAND-BELLECOUR IN 02:23:57
The marathon runners were able to enjoy the 42.195 km of the flagship event, which this year had a new start line on the right bank, quai Romain Rolland, with the finish line in the famous Bellecour square. More than one third of them had also chosen Run In Lyon for their first attempt over this distance.
Lyon’s historical old town, the banks of the Saône river, the Croix-Rousse, the famous Parc de la Tête d’Or, the banks of the Rhone, Gerland stadium and the Confluence district provided a backdrop to the runners as they ran through the city.
A particular mention must be made of Dadi Legese, winner in 02:23’57, and Chrystelle Lambert, winner in the women’s category in 02:54’44, shaving 40 seconds off her winning time in the 2018 edition.

An additional race was added to the three classic formats of Run In Lyon 2018, (10k, half-marathon and marathon): a relay-marathon completed by three participants. The first ran 20.5km, the second 14.5 km and the third 7 km. An ode to team spirit and the possibility for runners of all levels to share the same result and to take up the challenge of a marathon together!
The success of Run In Lyon has not waned since the beginning and it is popular with all kinds of runners. The 10k is the favourite format for women, as they represented more than half of the pack (51%). They were also well represented in the half-marathon (a third of participants) and in the relay- marathon (43%). It should be noted that 40% of the women who set off in 10k and the half-marathon of this 9th edition chose Run In Lyon for their first ever experience on this distance.
The 42.195k of the leading race, which set off on the left bank of Quai Tislitt and finished in Place Bellecour - the biggest pedestrian square in Europe -, delighted the marathon runners. Lyon’s old town, the embankments of the Saône, the Croix-Rousse, the renowned Parc de la Tête d’Or, the banks of the Rhône, Gerland and the Confluence district witnessed the challenge of the runners in the capital of Gauls. And in particular that of Morocco’s Alaa Hrioued, winner in a time of 02:21:53 and of France’s Chrystelle Lambert, winner in the women’s category in a time of 02:55:24.
It should be noted that Alaa Hrioued is a regular on Run In podiums, as he was already the winner of the last edition of the Run In Marseille marathon on 18 March, in a time of 02:21:06!

Happy New Year!
See you on October 2nd 2016 for the 7th edition of Run In Lyon!
50/50
For the first time in the history of races organised by Amaury Sport Organisation (A.S.O.), gender parity was observed in terms of registrations for a race: Run In Lyon’s 10km. In total, more than 14,000 competitors validated their race number for Run In Lyon’s 10 kilometre event.
This statistic confirms a long-term trend: during the 2015 Semi-Marathon de Paris and the 2015 Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris, 35% and 25% of participants were women– i.e. an increase of 5% and 4% versus the 2014 editions of these two races.
Nathalie and Julia took part in their first 10km competition. “Parity is normal!” said Nathalie before the start. “There are eight of us (friends and colleagues) running together.” John added: “It’s a good thing that there are equal numbers of women and men, but it doesn’t surprise me: at training sessions women even outdo men.” Catherine and Stéphane, who have been married for twenty years, added: “Parity is a great thing. Long live girls.”
Congratulations to all the “finishers”
There were 24,637 of you at the start of the 10km, the half-marathon and the marathon of Run In Lyon. This sixth edition allowed a new participation record to be achieved and proved the success of an event that is now firmly established as one of the major occurrences on the international running calendar.
Congratulations to all the “finishers” who reached Place Bellecour after visiting some of the most emblematic sites of the capital of the Gauls. The thousand or so of volunteers who accompanied you throughout your adventure deserve a special mention as well as the talented musicians present along the route: we look forward to seeing you on 3rd October 2016 for the seventh edition of Run In Lyon.
