MORE THAN 30,000 RUNNERS FOR THE 10th ANNIVERSARY

October 7th 2019

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Run In Lyon, runners turned up in numbers, with more than 30,000 signing up for the event.

10th ANNIVERSARY OF RUN IN LYON

The 10th anniversary of the largest Run In was a not-to-be missed event and the population of Lyon certainly showed its full support. Whether for the 10km, the half-marathon, the marathon or the marathon relay, runners of all levels turned out with one and the same goal: to achieve the best possible performance over their distance. It must be said that the festivities started well on the Saturday, with the highly popular Pitch Marathoons (1.2km and 2.4km) which drew in 1,200 children aged 5 to 10.

For 10 years now, Run In Lyon has been a popular success story attracting all types of runner profiles. The 10km remains the preferred format for women, who accounted for 46% of the leading pack, while nonetheless being extensively represented in the half-marathon (one third of the participants). It should be noted that almost one quarter of the runners had decided to take up the challenge at the invitation of their companies, notably in the 10km race, where they accounted for 30% of those registered.

QUAI ROMAIN ROLLAND-BELLECOUR IN 02:23:57

The marathon runners were able to enjoy the 42.195 km of the flagship event, which this year had a new start line on the right bank, quai Romain Rolland, with the finish line in the famous Bellecour square. More than one third of them had also chosen Run In Lyon for their first attempt over this distance.

Lyon’s historical old town, the banks of the Saône river, the Croix-Rousse, the famous Parc de la Tête d’Or, the banks of the Rhone, Gerland stadium and the Confluence district provided a backdrop to the runners as they ran through the city.

A particular mention must be made of Dadi Legese, winner in 02:23’57, and Chrystelle Lambert, winner in the women’s category in 02:54’44, shaving 40 seconds off her winning time in the 2018 edition.

28,493 RUNNERS AT THE START!

October 7th 2018

NEW RECORD: 28,493 runners set off in the race!

NEW RECORD: 28,493 runners set off in Run In Lyon this morning!

We go further together

An additional race was added to the three classic formats of Run In Lyon 2018, (10k, half-marathon and marathon): a relay-marathon completed by three participants. The first ran 20.5km, the second 14.5 km and the third 7 km. An ode to team spirit and the possibility for runners of all levels to share the same result and to take up the challenge of a marathon together!

Women ever present at the event

The success of Run In Lyon has not waned since the beginning and it is popular with all kinds of runners. The 10k is the favourite format for women, as they represented more than half of the pack (51%). They were also well represented in the half-marathon (a third of participants) and in the relay- marathon (43%). It should be noted that 40% of the women who set off in 10k and the half-marathon of this 9th edition chose Run In Lyon for their first ever experience on this distance.

Quai Tilsitt-Bellecour in 02:21:53

The 42.195k of the leading race, which set off on the left bank of Quai Tislitt and finished in Place Bellecour - the biggest pedestrian square in Europe -, delighted the marathon runners. Lyon’s old town, the embankments of the Saône, the Croix-Rousse, the renowned Parc de la Tête d’Or, the banks of the Rhône, Gerland and the Confluence district witnessed the challenge of the runners in the capital of Gauls. And in particular that of Morocco’s Alaa Hrioued, winner in a time of 02:21:53 and of France’s Chrystelle Lambert, winner in the women’s category in a time of 02:55:24.

It should be noted that Alaa Hrioued is a regular on Run In podiums, as he was already the winner of the last edition of the Run In Marseille marathon on 18 March, in a time of 02:21:06!

LAST CHECK LIST BEFORE THE START!

September 30th 2017

The race is already tomorrow! In theory, your legs are ready and your mind is focused, but you still have a few things to do so that your race goes as smoothly as possible.

  1. Your race number. Haven’t you collected it yet? Hurry on down to the Village. You have until 7pm to collect it, and you need to bring your notification letter, medical certificate and a proof of identity with you. No race number, means no race!
  1. Your start time. Do you remember it? It depends on the race in which you’re running and your target time. In case you’ve forgotten, take a look here!
  1. Your race gear. According to Méteo France, the weather will be mild and the temperatures will vary between 12 and 20°C. So you can choose the ideal clothing to be comfortable!
  1. Your meal the day before and on the big day. Tonight avoid going to a bouchon (typical Lyon restaurant). Have a light meal and drink water. Tomorrow, enjoy a relaxed breakfast: tea, a slice of bread and an apple compote.

LET’S TAKE STOCK, WITH ONE DAY TO GO!

October 1st 2016

Tomorrow it’s the big day! Here’s a little recap of the essential things not to forget:

  1. Your race number. It's the last day for collecting it in the Village, before 7pm! Remember your notification letter, your medical certificate and your proof of identity. Without them, you’ll have to watch the race as a spectator!
  2. Your start time. Do you remember it? It depends on the race in which you’re running and your target time. Need a reminder? All the information is here!
  3. Your gear. It should be sunny and around 15°, so make sure you dress appropriately! So don’t cover up too much...but it’s not summer any more either!
  4. Have a light meal this evening. Avoid fatty, heavy dishes and drink well. Tomorrow morning have an early breakfast: tea, toast and why not an apple compote?
  5. Your fan club. Will your parents and friends be on the route to chant your name? We hope so!

You can count on us to encourage you no matter! GOOD LUCK!

FINAL PREPARATIONS BEFORE THE BIG DAY!

September 30th 2016

Here we go: the Run In Lyon Village is open! Located on Place Bellecour, it will play host to the runners, their friends and families and everyone who’s interested in the entertainment and the festive ambiance.

To take advantage of the Village, we look forward to seeing you on:

  • Friday 30th October from 10am to 7pm
  • Saturday 1st October from 9am to 7pm

You can pick up your race number which you’ll need to run there (N.B.: the Village will be closed on the day of the race!) To do so you’ll need to bring the following with you:

  • Your notification letter, available on A.S.O.
  • Your valid medical certificate (without which you can’t collect your race number)
  • Your proof of identity (yes it’s really you in that photo)

How can you come to the Village? Use public transport! The Village is accessible via subway lines A and D. You need to get off at “Place Bellecour” station. Easy, huh? Of course you can also run there to prepare your legs for the Big Day.

Happy New Year!
See you on October 2nd 2016 for the 7th edition of Run In Lyon!

Long live parity!

October 4th 2015

50/50

For the first time in the history of races organised by Amaury Sport Organisation (A.S.O.), gender parity was observed in terms of registrations for a race: Run In Lyon’s 10km. In total, more than 14,000 competitors validated their race number for Run In Lyon’s 10 kilometre event.

This statistic confirms a long-term trend: during the 2015 Semi-Marathon de Paris and the 2015 Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris, 35% and 25% of participants were women– i.e. an increase of 5% and 4% versus the 2014 editions of these two races.

Nathalie and Julia took part in their first 10km competition. “Parity is normal!” said Nathalie before the start. “There are eight of us (friends and colleagues) running together.” John added: “It’s a good thing that there are equal numbers of women and men, but it doesn’t surprise me: at training sessions women even outdo men.” Catherine and Stéphane, who have been married for twenty years, added: “Parity is a great thing. Long live girls.”

24 388 champions !

October 4th 2015

Congratulations to all the “finishers”

There were 24,637 of you at the start of the 10km, the half-marathon and the marathon of Run In Lyon. This sixth edition allowed a new participation record to be achieved and proved the success of an event that is now firmly established as one of the major occurrences on the international running calendar.

Congratulations to all the “finishers” who reached Place Bellecour after visiting some of the most emblematic sites of the capital of the Gauls. The thousand or so of volunteers who accompanied you throughout your adventure deserve a special mention as well as the talented musicians present along the route: we look forward to seeing you on 3rd October 2016 for the seventh edition of Run In Lyon.

The 6th edition of Run In Lyon promises to be historic

With 28, 000 runners registered, the 6th edition of Run In Lyon promises to be historic in terms of participation. On Sunday you will be able to give it your all on the new flat and undulating routes while visiting the emblematic places of the capital of the Gauls.

It is worth mentioning that the volunteers present at the feeding station at the 10th kilometre—located near Paul Bocuse’s restaurant - will be wearing chef’s hats! Lyon, the world capital of gastronomy, rightly deserved this acknowledgement…

The VIllage!
